Professor Griffin is Vice Principal for Research, Head of the Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine, Dean of Clinical Affairs, Professor of Infectious Diseases and Medicine, Chairman of the Department of Medicine, Head of Division of Infectious Diseases and Honorary Consultant Physician at St George's Hospital Medical School. He has been Chair of the Advisory Committee on Dangerous Pathogens, DEFRA, since 2004, Chair of the Meningitis Research Foundation Scientific Committee since 2003, Adjunct Professor of Internal Medicine, University of Michigan since 1996, Examiner MRCP, Royal College of Physicians since 1993 and has been an appointed teacher at London University since 1990. He is a member of the Medical Research Society, the British Society for Study of Infection, the Association, of Physicians, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine & Hygiene, Medical Pilgrims and The Smith Institute. He was formerly Chairman of Celltech's Scientific Advisory Board until its merger with UCB and now undertakes this role for UCB.
